In the Automatic mode, the program constructs the timetable independently
according to the constraints you entered. To switch to Automatic mode, click on
Automatic at the bottom of the screen. As soon as you click on that button,
the program starts to initiliaze the automatic engine. During the initialization,
the program checks the validity of the data and constraints you entered,
to make sure there are no inconsistencies. If any are found, you will be notified
of them before the program enters the automatic state.
When you enter the Automatic state, the utility windows at the right will be hidden.
Instead, the Violations window will be shown at the right. This window sums
up all existing violations in the timetable. For each unscheduled activity, there
is also a violation in this window with the constraint Scheduling. Therefore,
even if your timetable is completely empty and you have not entered any constraint,
the Violations window will be filled with many Scheduling violations (one violation
for each unscheduled activity).
Timetable construction is the process of solving all violations. To solve
all existing violations, click on Solve All at the bottom of the window.
To solve a specific problem (violation), select the problem in the list and then
click on Solve. You can choose to ignore a specific problem (for example,
if you don't want the program to schedule a specific activity automatically) by
selecting it and clicking on Ignore.
Preferences Window
The Preferences window is an easy and intuitive way of automatically modifying the
timetable. It allows you to point at a specific problem in the timetable, and tell
the program to solve that problem - in a single click of your mouse!
